Volunteer Here
Please log on to our Sign-Up Genius site to volunteer for shifts in the library or to donate materials. Volunteers will be utilized to shelve books, help students locate books or information, and for other areas that may needed. We are always interested in having guest speakers or experts on topics students may be studying in their classes. If you are someone you know fits this description. Please contact Mrs. Mc at the school via 901-756-2310 or thru email [email protected]. |
Library Policies
Students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade visit the library every two weeks for fifty minutes. The library is open every morning from 8:30-8:50 for Open Circulation so students may return books and get new ones before their next class visit. Students who adhere to library rules and policies may access the library thru-out the day to work on individual projects, etc (homeroom teachers must give permission). This privilege will be suspended if a student is interfering with classes Mrs. Mc may be holding. Students in grades 1 - 5 may have a maximum of 2 books checked out at any time. Kindergarten enjoys story time during the nine weeks and can begin checking out books after fall break. All items are due 2 weeks (14 days) after they are checked out. Books checked out during library class are due the next time the class visits the library. Additional circulation times are available during Open Circulation @ 8:30-8:50. Students may renew books, but they must have their books with them to renew. No fines are charged, until the end of the year at this time books that have not been returned will need to be purchased as a replacement. Please be cognizant of returning books when due. This allows other students access to books they may be wanting to enjoy. Once a book is 14 days overdue, checkout privileges will be suspended until the book is either paid for or returned. Any book that is lost or damaged must be paid for before report cards are issued (District policy.) Audiovisual materials are available for faculty checkout only with the exception of audiobooks. Teachers are not restricted in their access to books and materials, but are asked to keep materials for no more than a month at a time. Overdue notices for each homeroom are sent quarterly. Students are encouraged to check out varying genres and books below or above their reading levels for read-alouds and shared readings. |
